Use Cases Vlan re-tagging - Supported by Layer 2 and Vwire Interfaces or just Layer 2?
Hello Live Community, good afternoon, thank you very much for the usual good vibes, comments, advice, collaboration, etc.
One question, in which Use cases do you need to Retag Vlans or Vlan re-tagging/ Re-tagging-VLAN-Translation ?
HA Active / Passive LACP Layer 2 TagVLAN subinterfaces L2 - Networks - VLANs.
I found a case of a client where the connection to the PA arrives at LACP AE layer 2 IN, and TAG subinterfaces 100,200,300,400, each subinterface in its respective Layer 2 zone. Then it goes to LACP AE layer 2 OUT, and its TAG o re-tagging subinterfaces 101,201,301,401, etc., each subinterface with its respective Layer 2 zone.
Networks - VLANs, called: 100_101 (with subinterface In.100 and Out 101) another called 200_201 (with subinterface In.200 and Out.201).
Now what are the pros and cons of these implementations? what are the use cases? When is it necessary to execute something like this Re-tagging of vlan ? Can it be done only in Layer 2 and/or Vwire? When does the need to have something like this arise?
I have searched but I can't find much documentation regarding Vlan re-tagging issues, less in Palo Alto or that goes into depth about it.
Thanks for the good vibes to the good vibes people, good vibes, your time and your comments.
